40 KIDS is a social impact venture of 40 Analytics, based in Accra, Ghana. We care deeply about children and treat their data accordingly. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
- Your account: when a parent or guardian creates an account, we collect a name, email, and phone number to sign you in (passwordless) and to contact you about your child's progress and your subscription.
- Learner profiles: for each child you add, we store a first name, age band, chosen language, and their learning progress (lessons completed, projects built, points) so it follows them across devices. This is stored securely on our servers and tied to your account.
- Payments: subscriptions are processed by Paystack. We do not see or store full card or Mobile Money details; we keep a record of your plan status and renewal date.
- AI tutor (Ananse): to provide the live tutor and Build Studio, the messages a child types, plus their first name, age band, and language, are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a reply. We instruct the model to never request personal information and to keep all content age-appropriate.
Children's data & parental consent
40 KIDS is intended to be used by children with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or a trained facilitator at a community hub. A parent or guardian should set up and supervise a child's use. We minimise what we collect about children, keep it on the device where possible, and never use it for advertising. If you believe a child has provided data without appropriate consent, contact us and we will remove it.
How we use data
- To run the learning experience and personalise it for the child.
- To send you progress updates, account and subscription emails, and (with your consent) reminders.
- To measure and improve learning outcomes, using aggregated, de-identified data.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use children's data for advertising.
Retention
We keep your account and learner data while your account is active. You can reset a child's progress with the "Start over" option, remove a child from your parent dashboard, or ask us to delete your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct, or delete your or your child's personal data, and to withdraw consent. Email info@40analytics.com and we will respond.
